...when the shock wears off! I wasn't certain that Chuck would win but I certainly never expected Rashad to knock him out clean like that!!! WOW!!! and...sigh =(
Not sure what is next for Chuck. Rashad was just much quicker. Chuck's age is taking a toll on his speed and my assessment is that if Chuck wants to continue fighting, he needs a new game plan. Hendo is his age but appears to be more adaptive to his opponents strengths and his weaknesses to where he compensates with intelligent strategy. Chuck needs to face the fact that he's no young buck anymore and find a way to win that doesn't include keeping his hands low, exposing his chin and waiting for the one punch knock-out in a counter strike situation
Big ups to Rich Franklin and Matt Hammil for putting on (as I predicted *smirk*) fight of the night. Rich Franklin looked outstanding at 205! Tons of energy and not even a little bit slow with the extra 20lbs, which some were concerned about. I thought Hammil did a great job defending all the weapons in Franklin's arsenal. But am curious why he didn't try to take Rich to the ground more since that is where he thrives. He definitely needs to learn how to check a leg kick...but his striking improves every time I see him fight and that boy's hands are heavy. I was amused when Franklin said he hopes Matt was one of the toughest at 205 because if he's not then the light heavy weight road is gonna be a long hard one. He also said that he was tired from pushing that extra 20 lbs around the cage so he implied he'll just be testing the waters at 205 for now.
Congrats to Hendo earning his first UFC win in awhile!
